Lexsyg Smart TL/OSL reader
Lexsyg Smart is a low-cost luminescence reader for routine standard measurements of luminescence by thermal and optical stimulation (TL, OSL). Made by Freiberg Instruments in collaboration with research and dating laboratories, this system was developed for standard TL and OSL measurements in geo/archaeochronometry, mineralogical research, solid-state and retrospective dosimetry, radiation monitoring, and materials science. Due to its flexibility, however, it also finds application in medical and personal dosimetry, especially in the transition between TLD and OSL.
Lexsyg Smart is a manual system with the ability to load up to 50 dosimetry elements simultaneously (TLD and/or OSL). It mounts a dual luminescence stimulation system inside. The standard configuration includes an isothermal (up to 710°C) or linear heating system (up to 0.1 K/s), which heats the dosimeters inside the measurement drawer while they are immersed in an inert nitrogen atmosphere. Lexsyg Smart can then integrate an optical stimulation system consisting of up to 3 different LEDs (blue, green, yellow and IR available), for the stimulation of OSL dosimeters.
The system for capturing the light emitted by the stimulated dosimeters consists of a PMT suitable for the emission of the materials used and interchangeable with other models if needed. Of considerable importance is the adoption of a C-14 source coupled with a re-emitter material for checking the stability of the PMT-typical models use an LED that loses the necessary characteristics over time.
